The Cock Inn

Above: The sign used when the Sealed Knot visited.

The Cock inn was south of The Priory House, opposite Gertrude Peake Place, later forming part of the Priory House outbuildings. The Cock was closed when the Commanding Officer ordered the sign to be cut down, thus terminating the licence, when the innkeeper refused to billet or provide refreshment for soldiers in the early 1800s. Was the site of The Health Centre before the centre moved to Hawkes Drive, (See Doctors Serving Redbourn).
