FIRST HARPENDEN VOLUNTEER POLICE CADETS BEING SET UP
ARE you aged between 13 and 18, have an interest in the police and enjoy outdoor activities and other challenges?
Local officers are starting up the first Harpenden Volunteer Police Cadets scheme and are currently inviting applications from young people - both boys and girls who must live in the St Albans District (including Wheathampstead, Redbourn, Harpenden, St Albans and London Colney).
The Cadets will be taking part in summer camps, community events, fitness activities and will learn about police procedures and the law. There will also be the opportunity to gain a level two NVQ in public services.
The Cadets will meet every Tuesday between 7pm and 9pm at Sir John Lawes School on Manland Way in Harpenden. Meetings are £1 per session, with extra costs for camps and other activities - though these will be subsidised.
Spaces are very limited, so don't hesitate - please email
derek.holloway@herts.pnn.police.uk for an application form.
All application forms should be handed into Harpenden Police Station by April 24, 2010 or alternatively post them to PC Emma Collins clearly marked HVP Cadets, Harpenden Police Station, Vaughan Road, Harpenden, AL5 4GZ. Successful applicants will be invited in for an informal chat to discuss their application.
The group is being run by local Police Officers, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) and police staff. If you are interested in becoming an adult instructor, please contact Del Holloway on the email above.
Funding for the group is being provided by local partners including St Albans District Council and supported by Pro Action - an independent charity that works with young people in Hertfordshire.
