Redbourn House

This was an impressive house but was demolished in the 1960's because the restoration bill was too high. The Portico is by the Museum of St Albans.

The above is one of the photographs from Geof Webbs Redbourn Collection

About 300 years ago the house was ocuppied by George Carpenter & other family members. One of his desendants married a Bowes-Lyon. lady Glamis lived here in the 19th Century.

The site is now occupied by Gertrude Peake Place.
