1st Redbourn Brownies is now a thriving unit of 18 girls aged from 7 to 10 years old.
We have two leaders Snowy and Tawny Owl and are fortunate to also have two Duke of Edinburgh Award volunteers.
During the year, apart from our fun weekly meetings and all the badge's we achieve, we also join in lot's of outside activities such as
Pantomime trip
District Thinking day - in 2012 we celebrated the Queens Golden Jubilee and in 2013 we put on a performance of "Eddie Saves the World" and our own version of "Gangnam Style"
St Georges Day Parade in Harpenden with all the Scouting and Girlguiding members of the District
Run stall's at the Scout Fete
Sleep overs - in 2012 we had an "Olympic" theme sleepover and in 2013 a "Pop stars" theme
District campfire
Christingle and Mothering Sunday Church services
Redbourn Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service
Flamstead Christmas tree festival
In addition to these activities we are always trying new and fun things with the Brownies so,
in late 2011
we performed a Dance routine at the district "Girl Guiding's got talent" show at Harpenden Hall's
In 2012 we
were part of the relay (along the Common) that carried "Redbourn's Olympic torch" around the village
had a fun day out at Whipsnade Zoo as part of our Friends to animal badge
enjoyed a sports session at Redbourn Tennis Club as part of our Olympic badge
had a stall to support the Redbourn Christmas Market
So far in 2013
we have had a special party when we celebrated our 85th Anniversary in Flapper Style!
created a display of the Units history at the Redbourn Village Museum
and have more event's planned
Then in 2014
we are looking forward to celebrating "The Big Brownie 100th Birthday" with all sorts of exciting event's!
