Redbourn Dental Practice Donates Dental Equipment to Mercy Ships
Mr Anthony Giles – Oral Surgeon from Harpenden – who volunteers on the Mercy Ships around the coast of Africa, performing surgery on patients who would struggle to receive specialist treatment – was pleased to receive 3 crates of Dental Materials to be used on the ships. The materials were donated by Dr’s Levy and Cohen from
Redbourn Dental Practice. Both dentists who come from South Africa appreciate the wonderful work carried out by the Mercy Ships. Dr Cohen worked in Mission Hospitals on the Namibia border with Angola and was only capable of doing rudimentary procedures because of lack of facilities. Many of the civilians in these regions had never had access to a dentist before.
Both doctors feel it is important to support those communities lacking in facilities that we take for granted. The next project they are working on is a library which is based in a container in a squatter camp not far from Cape Town. Any contributions such as books for children, reasonably new toys and contributions towards shipping costs will be most appreciated.
