Local support group, Friends of the Nickey Line, was formally launched at a public meeting in Harpenden Park Hall on 18 May 2006. The website

Help Wanted on the Nickey Line
The Friends of the Nickey Line are keen to improve the Nickey Line as a public amenity by opening up places along the path to provide more light, and views of the surrounding countryside. We also plan coppicing and hedge laying days.
Join our enthusiastic work parties, either at weekends, or during the week. We will provide gloves and tooling, but we need your help to make our goals achievable.
Our next work party will start at 10am at Knott Wood, about ¾ mile beyond the Roundwood School crossing on the way towards Redbourn, on Tuesday 18 November. We will be removing young growth to provide a wildlife habitat and views of the Ver Valley. Bring packed lunch. Contact Roger (01582 763560).
See our
Friends of the Nickey Line website for details of our news and future work parties.
Friends of the Nickey Line Chairman, Dave Abernethy, said "The Nickey Line is a great amenity to all local communities along the line - but regular users also come from further afield too, including Luton and St Albans, for example.
Local residents and all interested users can now join together through becoming a Friend of the Nickey Line - and have their say on all aspects affecting the Nickey Line.
