Friends of the Nickey Line.

Local support group, Friends of the Nickey Line, was formally launched at a public meeting in Harpenden Park Hall on 18 May 2006. The website http://www.nickeyline.org has been published and a 1000 house leaflet drop occured to households along the Nickey Line in Harpenden, Redbourn and Hemel Hempstead to encourage membership.

Short Walk in Redbourn Sunday 11 July at 10.45am

You are welcome to join the Friends on an approx 3 mile circular walk starting from the car park on Redbourn Common. The walk will be via Beaumont Hall and Dane End Farm. Bring stout footwear. Contact Doug on 01582 762120 for details.

Help Wanted on the Nickey Line

The Friends of the Nickey Line are keen to improve the Nickey Line as a public amenity by opening up places along the path to provide more light, and views of the surrounding countryside. We also plan coppicing and hedge laying days.

Join our enthusiastic work parties, either at weekends, or during the week. We will provide gloves and tooling, but we need your help to make our goals achievable.

Our next work party will start at 10am at Knott Wood, about ¾ mile beyond the Roundwood School crossing on the way towards Redbourn, on Tuesday 18 November. We will be removing young growth to provide a wildlife habitat and views of the Ver Valley. Bring packed lunch. Contact Roger (01582 763560).

See our Friends of the Nickey Line website for details of our news and future work parties.
