The current install allows the possibilty of adverts and we have instigated these to try and meet site costs and provide an extra sevice to our sponsors. Sponsors are provided with one high level, one medium level and one low level capaign per month as they request.

We can now offer this facility to other businesses £25 per month for a high level campaign, £10 medium level and £5 low level. This is a collaborative site run by local volunteers. The site is interactive in that many people can add or change details. This is a TWiki Site (pronounced twee-kee site), a meeting place to work on common interests. Anyone can contribute using any web browser. The Redbourn site looks like a normal Web site... except that it encourages contribution and editing of pages

Website Designer in San Jose at the

10th annual KMWorld & Intranets Conference and Exhibition

Our website designer Martin Cleaver (Helix Commerce) helped run workshop 8, Wikis & Blogs: New KM Tools, at San Jose , McEnery Convention Centre , California on the morning of 30 October 2006.

The workshop looked at the difference between blogs and wikis and how these met communication needs, comments regarding industry leaders and suppliers and some do’s and don’ts were also considered.

The village website has continued to offer a free webpage to all Redbourn Businesses and groups since its inception and design by Martin Cleaver .

As the site grew both with pages and popularity, (the front page has approximately 3000 hits or greater in a normal month with around 20,000 to 30,000page views.. See (Statistics for current details), funding became an issue. The site is not for profit and has/had been funded by Martin Cleaver. Redbourn Webmasters are pleased that the Parish Council has agreed to become a Principal Sponsor which enables the current service, outlined above, to be continued.

In order to expand the site and provide sufficient bandwidth (so the site is not switched off for a period of time when there are a lot of visitors, as has happened), further sponsorship is sought.

It should be noted that sponsorship money is used to meet site costs. The site is operated on a voluntary basis and no wages are paid. Site costs are met by the designer and sponsorship money is to meet these expenses. The site has run at a loss since its inception. Our growth in traffic and content requires hardware updates to prevent outages without sacrificing functionality. Other outgoings include bandwidth costs, rackspace within a colocation center, purchase of domain names, and sponsorship of specific software development tasks.
